HAVE YOU SEEN OUR LATEST EXHIBITION YET?
THE HISTORY OF EVERY CHURCH & SCHOOL IN HORWICH
Our latest exhibition entitled 'The History of Horwich Churches & Schools' opened on Sat. 13th August - the culmination of a year-long research project delving into the history of every church & school in the town.
If you haven't seen it yet please come along - it will be on display until the end of the year. This should be a must for anyone who attends a church or went to school in Horwich.
The final Open Day of this year's programme is a Family History Day on Saturday 10th Sept. (10 -1pm). We will also be putting on an exhibition at the Parish Church at the same time. Booking forms for our September trip to the Lake District and our new programme for the next 6 months are now available.
Why not call in at our Heritage Centre on any weekday afternoon (2-4pm) or Saturday morning (10-12.30) for local or family history information or maybe to purchase a book or dvd. We are sure you will find something different. Our latest dvds include Wallsuches & the Club Houses, Horwich in the Great War, the Life of Lord Leverhulme & 30 years of Horwich Heritage.
As part of our service to the public of Horwich, we are looking to expand our rota of Volunteers who look after the Horwich Heritage Centre, so if you can spare just a couple of hours a month and are interested in local history, please contact Stuart Whittle on 847797 or come to our meeting on 18th July (7.30pm).
You might also like to come along to our monthly meetings. Membership is just £10 per year for 11 speakers or £2 on the door (annual subscriptions are now due). Admission to the Heritage Centre (open every afternoon & Saturday mornings) and our special Open Days/Exhibitions is free.
